If you haven’t started watching this season of the Bachelor yet, it’s not too late to tune in. I wasn’t sure Arie was gonna do it for me after we said goodbye to him as runner-up on Emily Maynard’s season five years ago, but he seems to be starting off strong—I could do without the close-ups of his makeout sessions though.
One thing I’ve loved about the show all these years is the serious girl power we’ve seen from the Bachelorettes. They know what they want, they go after it and they exude confidence and vulnerability along the way. However, what we don’t often see is their natural side when all the makeup and filters come off and their off-camera looks are exposed. Some give us a glimpse more than others, but it’s refreshing for fans to see, especially if young women look to them as role models.
That’s why former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe’s recent Instagram post (below) is going viral. She’s stripped off all of her makeup to show us her beautiful, bare, imperfect skin, and says that although she spends most of her time “dolled up,” Instagram is just a “highlight reel” and “we all have things to work on.”
Bravo Kaitlyn! We can only hope more influencers and celebrities follow suit.
This is gonna mess up my esthetically pleasing feed and I don’t really care. After 2 months on broadway, getting dolled up with full hair and make up, this is how I normally look. It’s been a whirlwind and I have just been “on” for a while now. Poor Shawn, but I have been run down, moody, tired, cranky, irritable, and probably smell bad because I hate showering. Just wanted to remind you today while scrolling, that you’re beautiful, Instagram is a highlight reel, and we all have things to work on. But work on the inside this year, scroll less, love more, and the outside will fall into place. Let’s make 2018 the year of #Realstagram and mix one in every once and a while! Who’s with me 🙋🏼♀️
