We all know that the body can change dramatically after pregnancy. These changes get even more dramatic after multiple pregnancies.
Pregnancy causes weight gain that can cause fat to accumulate. Hormone changes cause the skin to decrease in elasticity resulting in skin laxity and stretch marks. The growing baby stretches the abdominal skin and causes the abdominal muscles to spread apart. Sometimes belly buttons become outies. Pregnancy and breast feeding can cause the breasts to enlarge significantly, and when the size shrinks, the breasts often appear empty and droopy. While some of these changes improve after giving birth, many do not, especially after multiple children.
Most moms complain about their tummies, breasts, butt, and virtually anything else you can imagine. Oftentimes the only way to reverse these changes is through surgery.
A mommy makeover refers to a single operation composed of multiple surgical procedures, each designed to reverse the changes that occur with pregnancy. Because of recent advances in surgical technique and anesthesia we are now able to safely do multiple procedures in a single operation.
When we use the term “mommy makeover”, we are simply referring to an operation designed to restore your pre-pregnancy body, or even create a body that was better than you ever had. It consists of procedures on different parts of the body, done in a single operation.
Because everyone has different needs, every mommy makeover is different. One mommy makeover may consist of liposuction, a tummy tuck, and a breast lift. But another may be liposuction, a Brazilian Butt Lift, and breast augmentation.
Again, we have gotten much better and safer at combining procedures, but it is possible that not everything you want done can be done at the same time. It is important to be examined by a board certified plastic surgeon to help determine what type of mommy makeover you are a candidate for.
Mommy Makeovers are performed under general anesthesia in our fully certified and accredited office operating facility. The length of surgery will depend on exactly what is being done, but can take up to 5 hours. After a stay in our recovery room for a few hours, you are able to go home. Again the actual recovery time will depend on your specific operations, but most patients require 2-3 weeks.
If you want to learn more about a Mommy Makeover and find out which procedures you are a candidate for, give us a call and set up your consultation.
