Spotify Is Now Selling Your Favorite Makeup—Here's How to Buy It

Much like the
Starbucks–Dunkin’ Donuts and Moes–Chipotle debates, Spotify and Pandora have
long been a music-streaming rivalry. But
recently surfaced news is about to make it a whole lot easier for makeup gurus
to choose between the two popular options. As Business Insider reports, the $16-billion digital music “start-up” just
started selling beauty products.

The latest
expansion of Spotify’s partnership with Merchbar (Spotify began working with the
brand last year to sell artists’ merchandise—think band tees, posters and
vinyls—on its individual profile pages) will allow listeners to “shop the look” of particular artists. For now, the e-commerce addition is being tested out on
one artist’s page, “Pretty Girl” singer Maggie Lindemann, and the makeup that
will be sold on her profile belongs to none other than celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath

Shopping looks is easy: Go to
the artist’s page, then look for the “Merch” section right below the “Popular”
section of top songs. There, you’ll find a list of products available for
purchase—in Lindemann’s case, it’s McGrath Labs’ new LiquiLUST liquid lipstick
collection, along with some other goodies from McGrath’s permanent collection, like eyeliners and shadow palettes. Once
you hit “Buy,” you’ll be directed to Merchbar where you can purchase the

“Maggie Lindemann is an
extremely exciting young artist, with more than 7 million fans listening to her all
over the world every month on Spotify,” Jordan Gremli, Spotify’s head of artist
and fan development, said in a statement. “In partnering with Pat McGrath to
offer beauty products in this innovative new way, she will be connecting
directly with her fans in the place where they go to enjoy her music already on

notes that Spotify isn’t taking home an extra cut from these transactions, but we’re
predicting an influx of users thanks to this new beauty-centric addition—we
know we’ll be shopping.
