These Celebs Prove You Can Pull Off Navy Lipstick

These Celebs Prove You Can Pull Off Navy Lipstick

From shades of deep navy blue to hues that echo with hints
of silver and gray to more matte finishes in the inky color, the dark blue lip is nothing to steer clear of. Making its
mark as the of-the-moment color, this often intimidating but actually quite
intriguing color is more wearable than most may think. Evident on the pouts of
every major starlet from Rihanna to Beyoncé and a staple look on Instagram,
swiping your lips with navy blue is trending big time.

Here’s the trick to pulling it off according to Lancôme makeup
artist, Alex Sanchez, so you can “put your lips to work and make them talk.”

“These new navy shades definitely make a rebel-couture statement,”
says Sanchez. “Amp up the contrast by setting the blue against a glowy canvas
of perfect skin. I love to cocktail Lancôme La Base Pro Perfecting Primer ($42) and Custom Highlighting Drops ($35) to create the look of holographic
skin. It’s best to keep the eye shadow nude and the focus on the lips. But if
you can’t help yourself, and love being ‘extra,’ you can add some blue mascara to
the tips of your lashes.”

If you’re willing and able to experiment with this darker
shade of blue, try these lipsticks on for size. Fenty Beauty by Rhianna Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Clapback ($18), a true, deep navy; Kat von D Everlasting Glimmer Veil Liquid Lipstick in Reverb ($22), which mixes more of a
pigmented cobalt color with flecks of shimmer; and Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in C603 ($22), a creamy midnight blue.

These are some of our favorite blue-lipped celebrity looks.
